What services do Heartland Adoptions offer? Our social workers provide pre-placement and post placement adoption interviews and reports for families desiring to adopt domestically and internationally. Post-placement home visits shall be completed as often as necessary if the adoptive family is experiencing problems.

Once we sign up to have our home study done, how long will it take to complete the process? The process of interviewing, completing background checks, obtaining references and medical reports, and writing the report will take approximately eight weeks.

What documents will we need? You will need the following:
> birth certificates > marriage license > divorce decrees (if applicable) > five solicited references from family and friends two unsolicited references > medical reports > criminal investigation check > child abuse investigation check > a copy of your last tax return > verification of employment and salary.

How many visits are required for our home study?
A domestic and international home study requires two face to face visits (except for China adoptions, four face to face visits are required). How many post adoption interviews are required? Domestic and international adoptions require three post adoption reports (except for China, who requires four post adoption interviews). The first post adoption interview takes place during the first thirty days after your children arrive at your home. The remaining post adoption interviews take place prior to the ninety-day and six-month dates. You may begin the process to finalize your adoption six months after your children have arrived at your home.
